Time and time again, I am pleasantly surprised with the reaction I get from the male population when it comes to talking about the menstrual cycle and the female body.
It seems to be just as big of a mystery to them as it is to many women.
I struggle still with that learned hesitation when talking to men about the female body.
But they are absolutely fascinated by it.
And once you get me going, it's hard to stop.
Plus, to get to test my on hand knowledge, priceless. Being able to have the answers without having to refer to a book or website is a real ego boost.
I was put to the test the other night by a guy friend of mine. And I'll go ahead and say it, I passed with flying colors.
First, just let me say that I view him as a very intelligent individual. So, the mere fact that he didn't know some "basic" facts about the female cycle astounded me.
But the thing that I enjoyed, and appreciated most out of all of it was his unbiased curiosity about all of it. He was genuinely interested in what I was saying.
Question after question he asked, and as for me, I had the answers.
It ended up being a lively conversation about fertility, cycles, menstrual cups and more.
Chats like this are so gosh darn refreshing to me.
